Vitamins
Vital = Life, amine = nitrogenous
Vitamins are nutritional components that have to be present in small amounts in our food. In our body they act as coenzymes for several chemical reactions. Due to the fact that the majority of vitamins cannot be synthesized by our organism, it is important to have an adequate daily intake. Out of 20 known vitamins, 13 are considered to be essential:
- Vitamin A,
- Vitamin B1,
- Vitamin B2,
- Vitamin B3,
- Vitamin B5,
- Vitamin B6,
- Vitamin B7,
- Vitamin B9,
- Vitamin B12,
- Vitamin C,
- Vitamin D,
- Vitamin E,
- Vitamin K
Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble and can therefore be overdosed.
