Increasing number of cells

Increasing number of cells in a tissue with consequent enlargement without increasing cell size. A typical example of hyperplasia can be found in growing body fat.

Hyperplasia can be induced by physiological (e.g. increasing demand) or patho-physiological stimuli (e.g. chronic inflammatory process).
